The slightly larger than life size wolf pack was made in 2018, as a response to the first wolves being sighted near my local town in Liguria. They are made using recycled quite well rotted chestnut floor boards from a house restoration in the village of Villa. The textures of the planks were an important part of the resulting wolves, giving a feel of weathered ancient forest.
I wanted to encourage some kind of dialogue by placing the wolves around the town, and generally moving them around the area. Photographers Ted Leeming and Morag Patterson photographed the wolves at night in Pieve di Teco, and later at the port of Oneglia in Imperia. They were also exhibited in the Galleria Umberto in Turin, to coincide with the big Artissima Art Fair.
