I had a show at The Graham Gallery in New York in 2013. I was really struck by all the rats in the subways, and thought that they would make a great installation. Making them about twice life sized, with several designed to work around a right angle, they were meant to be arranged and rearranged to pour across the floor and over objects. I photographed them in various places around London, my favourite shots are in Bond Street with an elegant man walking past, and outside Hackney Town with a couple of police officers. I was very honoured when they were chosen to be on the front cover of an edition of La Peste, by Camus. Five were editioned in bronze, and have infested all corners of the world, including Chicago and Australia.
